How physical exercise and creativity go hand in hand
A busy lifestyle in a modern urban environment can become a subtle nightmare for your mind and body. No matter what industry you work in your body and your mind go hand in hand. For artists and creative people it is just as important to maintain overall good body health to help maintain your mental health. Artist often lead lives with varying work hours, all nighters, hours on their feet serving or diving into every artistic opportunity that is presented, which can ultimately lead to a burn out. If you are a performer your body is your instrument it is what allows you to tell stories without words, show emotion and share a human connection with someone else on stage. If you are spending hours in coffee shops writing getting physical exercise and being present in your body is just as crucial to creativity as it is to performers. Our bodies are capsules harvesting ideas and we have to remember to take care of them to be able to fully access our creative potential.Finding ways to maintain good health when you work a busy schedule can be difficult. As an artist myself, I find scheduling in time to go out for a walk, bike ride or hit the gym helps add balance to an unbalanced lifestyle. Exercise can enhance creativity because it fires the neurons in your body and allows you to escape any cloudiness that may be going on inside your head. How your body feels directly influences how your mind feels. In order to maximize our creativity our mind must feel good which means we must take care of our bodies. In life we tend to value how much we output over the humanity of the creative process and often attention towards health and fitness take the back seat. Choosing to allow your art to be fueled by health will make the process of creating focused, deep and you will have more initiative and energy to put into your projects.
